Adjunct Faculty – Foundations and Methods of Teaching Health Fitness (PES 5051)

Center for Professional Education

Seattle Pacific University's Center for Professional Education (CPE) seeks a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach PES 5051: Foundations and Methods of Teaching Health Fitness, the foundational course in SPU's Health Fitness Add-On Endorsement program.

This course is delivered in a remote, asynchronous format through Canvas, allowing students to complete coursework in a self-paced learning environment. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2026. Employee must reside/work in the State of Washington.

Course Responsibilities

Adjunct faculty are hired on a contractual, part-time basis and are responsible for:

  • Maintaining and updating course syllabi and instructional materials using current best practices
  • Facilitating student learning in an online environment
  • Monitoring student progress and providing timely feedback
  • Grading assignments and assessments
  • Responding to student questions and providing instructional support
  • Supporting student success throughout the duration of the course

Qualifications

Required qualifications include:

  • Master's degree in Physical Education, Health Education, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Education, or a related field
  • Current or retired Physical Education teacher
  • Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with Physical Education endorsement/certification
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current instructional practices in health and fitness education
  • Mission Alignment: A personal commitment to Christian faith; enthusiasm for supporting SPU’s mission; alignment with the University’s Statement of Faith; and willingness to uphold the lifestyle standards of our Christian community

Compensation

Compensation is $225 per student registration.
