Intern – Maintenance of Way Engineering

Assists in monitoring activities of the Metrolink Maintenance of Way Departments related to all areas of asset management, engineering, maintenance and construction. Job Responsibilities Assists in the development, drafting, and field verification of As-In-Service Drawings. Assists in monitoring project activity. Assists in development of asset inventory. Supports project and construction management by monitoring daily field activity and performing research related to material, equipment, and labor cost. Photographs field activities that most effectively exhibit daily work tasks and progress. Follows existing document control procedures for filing of daily reports, photographs and other contract related files and submittals. Develops thorough understanding of the contract, scope of work, estimate and procurement/contracting plan for assigned projects. Communicates work activities with project team members and assist in identifying/resolving potential schedule impacts. Reviews contract documents, drawings and specifications to determine adequacy for construction / implementation, and adherence to acceptable standards and practices. Ensures that the contractors comply with their respective QA/QC plans, safety other compliance obligations.
