Casualty Claims Examiner / Counsel

We are currently seeking a qualified individual for the following opportunity in our Toronto office:   CASUALTY CLAIMS EXAMINER / COUNSEL    TORONTO   The Claims Examiner/Counsel, reporting directly to the Vice President, Claims Specialty Insurance, will be responsible for management of casualty claims.     Responsibilities include:   Coverage evaluation. Drafting coverage letters and other documents. Setting claim reserves. Communicating with insureds, counsel, third party adjusters, brokers, and claimants. Managing litigation and negotiating settlements. Authorizing payments as required. A passionate, participative, service-oriented attitude     Qualifications   A minimum of 5 years of experience handling casualty claims; CIP designation an asset but not required; Law degree from a recognized university an asset but not required; The ability to communicate verbally and in writing in both English and French, as asset but not required.     Location:   Downtown Toronto – Hybrid    Salary:   The expected salary in this position is within the range of $120,000 - $160,000     This salary range reflects the expected base compensation for the role across Canada. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, qualifications, and scope of responsibilities.
