SCIENTIST LEAD
Job Description
The candidate must be capable of representing the District on taskforces and work teams utilizing consistent application of discipline knowledge, theories and best practices. The candidate must be able to serve as a technical advisor and resource for executive level assignments to regulatory agencies and special interest groups. The candidate may serve as a spokesperson for the District at internal and external meetings.
The primary responsibilities for the position include interagency coordination of water quality monitoring projects and monitoring design. Responsibilities may also include developing new monitoring programs and negotiating monitoring requirements with customers and external agencies, as well as managing existing complex monitoring programs. Other duties may include contract management, writing work orders and scopes of work, approving invoices, attractive and capital asset purchasing and/or creating purchase orders.

Employment Guidelines:
Lead Scientist: Typically has Master's Degree in Natural or Physical Sciences and 8+ years’ experience that demonstrates measurable career progression in water quality monitoring.
Senior Scientist: Typically has Master's Degree in Natural or Physical Sciences and 6+ years’ experience that demonstrates measurable career progression in water quality monitoring.
Scientist 4: Typically has Bachelor's Degree in Natural or Physical Sciences and 4+ years’ experience that demonstrates measurable career progression in water quality monitoring.
Scientist 3: Typically has Bachelor's Degree in Natural or Physical Sciences and 2+ years’ experience that demonstrates measurable career progression in water quality monitoring.
License(s) / Certification(s):
Valid State of Florida Driver's License required.
Physical Requirements/ Working Environment:
Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during, and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.
