
Assistant Secondary DC Manager
Job Description
- Effectively plan, staff, direct and coordinate activities to maintain efficient storage and flow of materials while maintaining control of inventory assets.
- Participate in the development of and execute a distribution services plan that ensures all receiving, storage, order fulfillment, inventory control, logistics and assembly functions meet company, financial and customer service goals.
- Design, implement and maintain effective internal schedules and controls to mitigate risks and provide for the movement of merchandise correctly, safely, without damage and on time.
- Use technology to achieve financial objectives and prioritize employee development, performance metrics and accountability within the warehouse culture.
- Collaborate as needed to drive optimal productivity; foster an environment in which diverse backgrounds are respected and valued.
- Complete assignments and manage areas of the operation as designated by the DC Manager and may assume leadership during DC Manager’s Absence.
- Maintain proficiency in all aspect of a DC Associate position and assist in and/or perform the loading and unloading of trucks and the movement of merchandise.
- Maintain a safe workplace through training and accident prevention/preparedness and ensure the location is in compliance with requirements and forklift certifications.
- Communicate company standards and policies and take proactive corrective actions in collaboration with Human Resources to ensure compliance.
- Enhance and maintain positive communications with our showroom warehouse and retail operations.
- Acquire, maintain, and apply an ample level of product and customer knowledge.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and maintenance within working environment and will all equipment and tools.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

MUST:
- 1-3 years of successful experience in customer-facing roles.
- Valid state-issued driver's license required.
- Minimum 2 years of safe driving. Preferred 5+ years driving experience
- CDL preferred but not required.
- Employment in this role is dependent on maintaining all DOT and driving certifications if applicable to the location.

- 5 years (minimum) of Distribution/Warehouse leadership/management and supply chain management, including “last mile” delivery.
- Proven ability to motivate teams and manage conflict; ability to provide feedback and develop teams.
- Experience in large volume durable goods distribution, Furniture preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and understanding of the role of operations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven skills in implementing and managing supply chain excellence.
- Strong understanding of technology, inventory software systems/Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), applicable metrics working within a data driven environment.
- Able to obtain and maintain forklift certification.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs., unassisted.
- Operating forklift & pallet jack and other power and/or hand tools.
- Regular standing, walking, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping.
- Exposure to external weather, heat, and cold and common warehouse conditions.
- Exposure to noise and moving machinery.
- Office setting using standard office equipment, seated at computer, keyboard monitor and phone.
- All our positions must successfully complete new hire background and drug screening.
- High School diploma or equivalent GED, Associates degree in business, management, or related discipline or equivalent education and experience.
