Job Description

Position Summary:

The Laundry Washperson is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and availability of hotel related linens in accordance with established standards. They follow all instructions from supervisors to ensure the safety of themselves, guests and other employees. The Laundry Washperson must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times to reflect the high standards of the company.

Job Duties:
  • Identify and separate stained or torn linen.
  • Report any deficiencies or damaged linens in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
  • Use the proper linen handling methods to prevent injury.
  • Operate washing and drying equipment, load and unload laundry from machines.
  • Ensure accurate measurement of cleaning agents to laundry according to product specifications and departmental procedures.
  • Monitor feeder information on washers, make sure all drums are full and report any irregularities to management staff immediately.
  • Set the proper drying and cooling times for different types of linen.
  • Strictly adhere to the company’s lost and found policies and procedures.
  • Follow all procedures when responding to any hotel emergency or safety situation.
Minimum Qualifications / Other Expectations:
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Experience working in a laundry and/or housekeeping environment, preferably in a hotel/resort environment.
  • Knowledge of linen sizes and classifications.
  • Knowledge of laundry cleaning agents and their proper and safe use.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work with management staff and other employees in a professional manner.
