Job Description

Position: Volunteer Driver Mentor – 120 Countdown Program
Location: Nambucca Heads or Coffs Harbour, NSW

What You’ll Be Doing

You will work alongside staff and fellow volunteers to support learner drivers through:

  • Supervising driving sessions in a program-supplied vehicle
  • Providing encouragement, guidance, and practical road safety advice
  • Supporting individuals facing disadvantage to gain their P-plates
  • Helping builds confidence and independence through safe driving habits
  • Reporting any concerns to your designated coordinator

Activities are based on the learner’s schedule and availability, with flexible time commitments.

Other key tasks include:

  • Being a positive role model behind the wheel
  • Maintaining a calm and supportive learning environment
  • Adhering to all safety and program guidelines

Volunteer characteristics we are looking for:

  • Aligned to Uniting’s values: Compassionate, Respectful, Imaginative, Bold
  • Commitment: Volunteering days and times are flexible. However, to foster consistent mentorship, a 6-month minimum commitment is encouraged.
  • Holds an unrestricted Australian driver’s licence with a clean driving record
  • Willing to complete Uniting’s essential online induction and training
  • Willing to undergo background checks: including a National Police Check, Working with Children Check, and others as required
  • Person-centred and a great communicator

The ability to secure a volunteering position with Uniting depends on several factors, including availability at your requested location and your ability to provide all necessary pre-requisites. Once you register your interest, our team will review your application and attempt to match you with a suitable opportunity.
