Job Description
The SEHA Hospital Coder accurately navigates patient health records and related systems to assign appropriate diagnoses and procedure codes using encoder software and reference tools. Responsibilities include coding routine outpatient records, validating charges against documentation, linking diagnoses to procedures, and applying modifiers when necessary. The coder uses retrospective edit tools to resolve coding or documentation issues, consults with CDI teams and physicians for clarification, and collaborates with Revenue Cycle Management to address billing concerns. They interpret bundling/unbundling guidelines, track missing documentation, investigate claim denials, and meet established quality and productivity standards. The role requires staying current with coding and reimbursement regulations, ensuring compliance with UAE laws, and maintaining ethical, professional conduct. Additional duties may be assigned by leadership.
