Fencing - Head Coach
Job Description
Overview:
The Head Fencing Coach is responsible for leading and developing a competitive and educational high school fencing program. This includes coaching student-athletes in foil, épée, and/or sabre, fostering sportsmanship, and promoting skill development, teamwork, and personal growth. The coach will oversee all aspects of the program, including practices, competitions, and program administration.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize, and lead practices and training sessions for student-athletes of varying skill levels
- Provide technical instruction in fencing techniques, tactics, and rules
- Develop and implement season plans, including conditioning, skill progression, and competition preparation
- Coach and supervise athletes during meets and championships
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful team culture
- Promote sportsmanship, discipline, and academic accountability among athletes
- Coordinate team logistics, including scheduling and equipment management
- Maintain and inventory fencing equipment; ensure proper safety protocols are followed
- Collaborate with school administration, athletic department staff, and parents
- Organize team meetings, events, and end-of-season recognition
