Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Corporation is seeking a Property Tax Accountant/Principal Tax Accountant to join the Corporate Tax Department. This position will report to the Property Tax Manager and will be located in Irving, TX. Although some telecommuting is possible in this role, candidates will need to be local to the Irving area as there is an office component required each week.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Maintain comprehensive compliance calendars for all property taxes, business licenses, and payment schedules
- Collaborate with property management to ensure asset reports accurately reflect proper locations and the timely removal of disposed assets
- Perform PTMS data imports and review asset classifications
- Prepare, review, and file timely annual real estate and business personal property tax returns
- Maintain the personal property tax database to ensure efficient retrieval of audit data
- Lead personal property tax audits
- Review real estate and personal property assessment notices to identify discrepancies, develop fair market value opinions, and file administrative appeals or refund claims
- Manage property tax appeals and coordinate related third-party consulting agreements
- Verify tax bills against renditions, prepare check requests for payments, and assist with general ledger account reconciliations
- Research property tax issues, including, but not limited to, industry and legislative research
- Manage the weekly intake, data entry, and processing of indirect tax documents while ensuring all outbound filings and payments are mailed accurately ahead of deadlines
- Oversee the research, preparation, and timely filing of municipal and state business licenses and renewals
- Monitor changing local regulations to ensure all operating locations maintain active, compliant licensing
- Support Incentive & Credits Council as needed
- Partner with Internal Accounting groups as needed
- Assist Indirect Tax Team as needed
This role may be filled at the Level 2 or Level 3 (Principal) Level depending on the years of experience they bring to the role.
Basic Qualifications for a Level 2:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field plus 2 years property tax experience
Basic Qualifications for a Level 3:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field plus 6 years property tax experience
Remaining Qualifications for Both Levels:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Experience with property tax reporting software systems such as PTMS
Preferred Qualifications:
- SAP knowledge.
- Aerospace/Defense industry experience.
- Big 4 & industry tax experience.
- Experience utilizing generative AI tools to improve workflow efficiency and project outcomes.
- A high level of confidence, attention to detail, integrity, self-motivation, and hands on problem solving skills.
- Flexible and demonstrate strong judgment/decision making skills.
- Excellent organizational, verbal, and written communication skills, as well as, project management, planning, and personal interaction skills.
- Strong commitment and ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
