Job Overview

Under the general direction of the Manager, Social Media, the Associate, Social Media Specialist is responsible for enhancing the Airport’s branded social media platforms, using data and analytics, paid social, brand guidelines and industry best practices. This position is also responsible for the development and coordination of daily content, copywriting, assisting with customer driven inquiries, and achieving improved engagement for communications related to the Airport’s key results.  

What you will be doing:

  • Supports daily monitoring of DFW’s social media presence through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and other social media platforms and review sites such as Yelp, Google and Glassdoor for brand reputation management.

  • Assists with creating and publishing content following brand guidelines.

  • Supports cross‑functional coordination by gathering information for stories, campaigns, or content needs.

  • Provides administrative support including maintaining digital assets, organizing content files, and updating internal knowledge bases.

  • Collaborates with external vendor partners by providing information and supporting quality assurance for customer responses.

  • Helps maintain the social media content calendar, entering posts, updating schedules, and coordinating with internal partners for materials.

  • Receives and responds to social media inquiries, preparing messaging statements and researching information.

  • Help identify habits of our online customers and suggest ways to reach a broader audience.

  • Participates in crisis situations by monitoring channels, sharing updates, and supporting senior team members with messaging coordination.

What you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, communications, journalism, or related field.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of social media programs operated by a corporate, business or government entity.

  • Knowledge of and hands-on experience with social media tools that relate to listening, engagement, analytics and knowledge base resources.

  • Knowledge of project management and planning.

  • Excellent writing, editing and communication skills and ability to tailor messaging for different platforms and in a timely manner.

  • Skill in the preparation of social media reports and analysis.

  • Ability to keep up to date on latest social media trends and best practice techniques.

  • Ability to coordinate effectively with public relations agencies and partners on project initiatives.

  • Ability to execute all forms of communication, including crisis communications techniques.

  • Communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing to internal and external audiences.

  • Ability to work with others in a team environment.

  • Ability to work with customers to resolve questions, concerns or suggestions.

Special Requirements:

  • Must obtain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) Airport Identification/Access Badge (badge) in accordance with Department of Homeland Security Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requirements in Chapter 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 1500 et al., and DFW Airport’s Airport Security Program within thirty (30) days from date of employment and maintain qualification for a SIDA badge upon each badge renewal.

Desirable:

  • Agency experience preferred.

  • Experience in a travel-related, transportation, aviation or government organization.

  • Experience with advanced digital advertising tactics such as performance display, Facebook/Instagram retargeting, as well as Search Engine Marketing (SEM).

  • Experience in an organization with a focus on customer service.

  • Experience with multimedia composition and editing, including photo and video editing skills.

  • Certification from any digital marketing tools including Facebook Blueprint.

  • Experience with social listening tools like Sprout Social, Rival IQ, or Hootsuite.

  • Experience with scheduling tool Loomly.

Effort:

  • Works in an office environment.

  • Uses computers and other technology to communicate.

  • Communicates by telephone, computer, in writing and in person.

  • Uses near-visual acuity in reading written documents and statistical data.
