The laboratory of Dr. Maciej Walczak at the University of Colorado Boulder is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Associate to join an interdisciplinary research program at the interface of chemical biology, biophysics, and neurodegeneration. Our research is focused on uncovering how site-specific glycosylation rewires the structure and function of hallmark proteins in AD. This project combines chemical synthesis with advanced biophysical and cellular approaches to define how PTMs regulate protein conformation, receptor interactions, aggregation, clearance, and spread. The successful candidate will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to perform quantitative biophysical assays alongside complementary cellular studies in human iPSC-derived models. The position emphasizes developing a mechanistic, structure–function understanding of protein functions. The candidate will also contribute to data integration across chemical, biophysical, and cellular platforms and assist with mentoring junior researchers and maintaining an organized, collaborative lab environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate interested in linking molecular precision to human disease biology, and in gaining experience in a highly collaborative and fast-paced research environment spanning chemical biology, biophysics, and neurodegeneration.

- Design and execute biophysical experiments.
- Measure binding kinetics and affinities.
- Map conformational dynamics and structural changes associated with glycosylation and ligand binding.
- Analyze and interpret complex datasets, including kinetic modeling and structure–function relationships.
- Mentor graduate students and undergraduate researchers in experimental design and data analysis.
- Prepare manuscripts, figures, and grant contributions in collaboration with the PI and team members.
- Present research findings at group meetings, departmental seminars, and national/international conferences.
- This position is 100% in person and does not require any travel or work outside of normal business hours.
- The anticipated start date for this position is June 2nd, 2026.
The annual salary range for this full-time position is $60,000-70,000.

- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Biophysics, Chemical Biology, or related field.
- Strong background in protein biophysics and/or biophysical methods development.
- Interest in neurodegeneration and interdisciplinary research.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Experience with BLI/SPR or other kinetic binding platforms, protein aggregation assays, mass spectrometry or structural methods.
- Familiarity with modern imaging techniques.
- Experience with protein chemistry techniques.
