Hub NOC Technician - Live Sport

NEP Australia is currently looking for a Hub NOC Technician to support NEP�s centralized broadcast and production operations by performing routine technical tasks guided by established checklists, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and engineering direction.

The position

This role is based on site at NEP�s Hub facilities, which are at the forefront of centralized and remote broadcast production, delivering world-class content through cutting-edge IP infrastructure and global connectivity.

The Hub NOC Technician is responsible for the real-time monitoring, coordination, and first-line technical support of NEP�s networked broadcast systems, ensuring consistency, reliability, and efficiency across every production.

Operating at the heart of NEP�s remote production ecosystem, the Hub NOC Technician plays a vital role in maintaining broadcast integrity, assisting with signal routing, and escalating issues to engineering teams when required.

This full time position working on live sports broadcasts includes regular weekend and evening work when Tier 1 sports are being played.

Key Responsibilities but not limited to:


1. System Monitoring and Operations

  • Monitor all active broadcast feeds, transmission paths, and system health indicators using NOC tools and dashboards.
  • Follow detailed checklists and SOPs to ensure operational readiness before, during, and after productions.
  • Identify and respond to alarms, errors, or irregular system behaviors in a timely and professional manner.
  • Escalate faults to appropriate engineering or support teams when issues exceed defined parameters.
  • Maintain situational awareness of multiple concurrent productions, connectivity routes, and resource usage.

2. Technical Setup and Routine Maintenance

  • Execute standard configuration and patching tasks under engineering supervision.
  • Assist in validating video, audio, and intercom signal paths through IP and baseband systems.
  • Perform daily equipment readiness checks (routers, servers, comms, and monitoring systems).
  • Support planned maintenance activities, following checklists to ensure system stability and compliance.
  • Report and document faults or anomalies in accordance with the NOC ticketing process.

3. Workflow Consistency and Documentation

  • Adhere to NEP�s operational standards to ensure reliable and repeatable broadcast outcomes.
  • Complete system logs, handover reports, and event documentation accurately and on time.
  • Contribute to process improvement by identifying inefficiencies or areas for procedural refinement.
  • Ensure configuration changes and operational adjustments are documented and authorized per change-control policy.

4. Collaboration and Communication

  • Liaise with Hub engineers, remote production teams, and other NEP NOCs to coordinate broadcast support.
  • Communicate clearly with stakeholders regarding system status, incidents, and resolution updates.
  • Support senior engineers and shift leads in testing, fault replication, and operational sign-off.
  • Foster a professional and service-oriented culture within the Hub and NOC environment.

5. Safety, Quality, and Compliance

  • Always apply NEP�s technical and safety procedures.
  • Ensure broadcast quality standards are consistently upheld across all monitored outputs.
  • Support redundancy checks, system failover tests, and disaster recovery procedures as directed.
  • Follow network security, access control, and operational compliance guidelines.

Required skills and attributes:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Broadcast Engineering, IT, Media Technology, or related discipline.
  • 1�3 years� experience in a broadcast, NOC, MCR, or live event technical support environment.

Foundational knowledge of:

  • Video and audio signal flow (SDI, IP, MADI, AES)
  • Broadcast routing and control systems (Lawo VSM, Evertz Magnum, TFC)
  • IP-based media systems (SMPTE 2110, NMOS, PTP)
  • Audio and communications systems (RTS, Riedel, Clear-Com)
  • Basic understanding of IT networking (IP addressing, VLANs, connectivity troubleshooting).
  • Proficient with standard monitoring tools, dashboards, and incident management systems.
  • Strong communication, attention to detail, and process discipline.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and shifts to support 24/7 operations.
