About the opportunity
The Executive Officer is located within the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Indigenous Strategy & Services and reports directly to the Executive Director for the portfolio. This is a pivotal role responsible for supporting the Executive Director in connection with policy, strategy, and advice in relation to reconciliation and all Indigenous matters. It is also responsible for supporting the portfolio in its governance across the University in supporting the culture, staff and employment, students, engagement, teaching and learning, and research. The position will support the Executive Director in the development and application of Indigenous governance, culture, staff, students, engagement, teaching and learning and research.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
work closely with the DVC and Executive Director, Indigenous Strategy & Services on strategy, policy advice, processes, risks and issues and operational matters
maintain the Portfolio’s governance processes and key compliance requirements
proactively manage communications and relationships with internal stakeholders
review, author and prepare correspondence and reporting on behalf of the DVC ISS for submission to various University committees
provide effective leadership and support to a small team in the Office of the DVC ISS
lead and/or contribute to the delivery of key projects and strategic initiatives across the Portfolio
About you
proven experience as an Executive Officer (or similar), supporting senior leadership within a complex and multifaceted organisation (tertiary sector is highly desirable)
experience developing high-quality written communications and capability in complex report writing
demonstrates strong cultural competency and the ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultural, linguistic and social backgrounds
proven track record in identifying, developing, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
ability to work in an agile way adapting to operational issues, whilst continuing to think about the long- term big picture
possessing degree qualifications
highly developed relationship management skills and the ability to operate with tact and professionalism at the senior level
outstanding presentation, communication and influencing skills to deliver messaging on a variety of channels to varied audiences
flexibility in their organisation and planning skills to balance competing agendas and demands in a fast paced, time pressured environment.
