About the opportunity
The University of Sydney is seeking a Senior Manager, Education Support to lead the delivery of education support services within the Faculty of Medicine and Health. This is a senior leadership role responsible for a large, dispersed team delivering services across multiple schools, including scholarships and prizes, student management and assessment support.
You will provide strategic and operational leadership to ensure high-quality, consistent education support aligned to faculty teaching objectives. The role partners closely with academic leaders and central portfolios, navigating a complex stakeholder environment to support student lifecycle outcomes and continuous improvement initiatives.
This role operates in a dynamic environment, contributing to evolving service delivery models and faculty-wide education priorities.
This position is based on campus 4 days per week, with travel required across teaching sites in Greater Sydney.
Key responsibilities
- provide strategic advice and operational leadership to the Head of Education and School leadership, supporting implementation of education strategies and plans
- lead and manage the delivery of education support services, including scholarships and prizes, across multiple schools
- manage a large, distributed team, including performance, development, and workforce planning
- drive process improvement and service consistency across education support functions
- partner with academic and professional stakeholders to resolve complex student, curriculum, and progression matters
- ensure compliance with legislative, accreditation, and university requirements
- oversee reporting, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives
About you
- demonstrated experience leading education support or student administration functions in a complex organisation, ideally within higher education
- proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in a distributed and stakeholder-rich environment
- strong understanding of tertiary education systems and processes (e.g. Canvas and student administration systems)
- excellent stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence and build partnerships across academic and professional groups
- strong strategic, analytical, and problem-solving capability, with the ability to balance operational delivery and long-term improvement
- excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
- highly developed organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes
