Job Description

Job Title: Paraprofessional, Day Treatment Program K-12
Location: Lake County - Mentor
Reports To: Program Supervisor 
FLSA Status: non-exempt
Full-Time 

Salary Range- Based on experience

Summary: Performs any combination of the following instructional tasks in the classroom to assist teaching staff by performing the following duties. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

 

As directed by the teacher, assist in the instruction of students with disabilities by:

 

  • Reviewing and becoming familiar with student's IEP.
  • Preparing and/or organizing instructional materials and lessons.
  • Instructing child using appropriate methods and materials.
  • Correcting student assignments, tests, and homework.
  • Maintaining appropriate records.
  • Assist in supervising student with disability in any instructional setting (regular classroom, special education classroom, lunchroom, playground, recreational/physical education activities, field trips and hallways) during the school day.
  • Assist in supervising student with disability in Behavioral management of child using the appropriate methods and techniques.
  • Assist in supervising student with disability during the arrival and departure of students.
  • Support the needs of day treatment program with social emotional therapies as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all work responsibilities.
  • Set a professional image through the use of interpersonal skills to include: courteous manners; proper work attire; a positive attitude; and, a cooperative demeanor.
  • Respond and interact with children and adults in a positive, thoughtful, and appropriate manner.

 

Education, Experience & Certification:

 

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training. Must obtain and maintain an Ohio Department of Education Educational Aide Permit.

 

Criminal Records Check: Must comply with Ohio Revised Code 3319.39 � Criminal Records Check.
Drug Testing: Must pass drug screen at time of hire and comply with the Drug Free Workplace Act of 1988.
