Afterschool Program Tutor (HS Student Applicants Only)

Education/Certification:

• Current enrolled High School student

Special Knowledge/Skills:

• Exhibits knowledge of curriculum and instruction Uses effective teaching strategies and techniques. Presents a positive role model.
• Works and relates positively with others. Communicates effectively in oral and written forms.

Function

The campus afterschool program tutor works directly with students at the assigned campus, and is responsible for teaching, coaching and evaluating skill levels for eligible students served.

Reports To:

Campus Principal

Responsibilities:

• Designs and implements learning strategies to improve fundamental or developing skills in reading and math.
• Provides additional reinforcement and practice of skill deficiencies and acquisition in reading and math through one-on-one or small group instruction using alternative methods and materials/equipment.
• One-on-one or small group tutoring with students who are experiencing difficulty in mastering reading and math concepts. Tracks and charts student progress by reporting achievement and assessment scores.
• Cares for and maintains materials and equipment at the assigned facility. Communicates effectively with students, teachers, staff/personnel, and parents.
• Create and maintain part-time service schedule to meet the needs to eligible students at the campus. Demonstrates initiative and follow through in the performance of duties.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the principal and/or administration.
• Follow District guidelines and procedures and follows rules and regulations of assigned facility.
