Position Purpose
This position serves at an Elevate campus and focuses on accelerating language acquisition and academic performance through differentiated, data-driven instruction in a structured environment. Employs innovative teaching methods and personalized instruction to promote academic progress and foster a love of learning. Contributes to the implementation of innovative teaching strategies within the Elevate instructional model.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Plans a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
- Prepares lessons that reflect accommodations for individual differences.
- Prepares for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects; communicates these objectives to the students.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the needs of the individuals or student groups involved.
- Strives to implement, by instruction and action, the district's instructional model, goals, and objectives.
- Assesses the accomplishments of the students on a regular basis and provides progress reports as required.
- Refers students for evaluation by district specialists as required.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
- Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct. Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior. Maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
- Makes provisions for being available to the students and to the parents for education-related purposes when required.
- Maintains and improves professional competence.
- Participates in district staff development.
- Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees.
- Maintains a professional relationship with colleagues.
- Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members.
- Contributes to the school community by attending and supporting extracurricular activities and events.
- Participates in parent-teacher conferences and other school events to foster a strong home-school partnership.
Safety
- Performs preventive maintenance on tools and equipment and ensures equipment is in safe operating condition.
- Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting and climbing; operates tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Corrects unsafe conditions in work area and promptly reports any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.

Travel Requirements
- Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
Physical & Mental Demands, Work Hazards
- Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment such as interactive teaching screens.
- Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent stooping, squatting, kneeling, bending, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
- Motion: Frequent repetitive hand motions, including keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; frequent walking.
- Lifting: Frequent light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); occasionally up to 35 pounds; may lift and move textbooks, classroom tools, and lab equipment; additional requirements may apply in certain classroom/lab settings.
- Vision: Performs tasks requiring close vision.
- Environment: Works inside and occasionally outside; standard classroom/lab school building environment; frequent exposure to noise; frequent talking and listening; may require occasional irregular and/or prolonged hours.
- Attendance: Regular and punctual attendance at the worksite is required for this position.
- Mental Demands: Maintains emotional control under stress; works with frequent interruptions.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
- Certification/License: Valid Texas Teacher Certificate appropriate for grade level and/or subject area required.
- Experience:
- Teaching experience preferred;
- Experience working with diverse student populations preferred.
- Language: Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred in some settings.
