
Substitute Teacher 2026-2027
Job Description
Applicants for Substitute Teaching are required to submit an on-line application and attach a copy of your educational records (G.E.D., High School Diploma/Transcript, College Diploma/Trasnscript, or Cerftified Teaching Certificate).
You must complete the Substitute Teacher Orientation prior to working as a substitute.
Position Summary:
Provide classroom instruction, maintain classroom management, and perform related duties to ensure daily routines and responsibilities are followed during the absence of the regular employee.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate Degree or 60 hours of post-secondary education preferred
- Satisfactory completion of Pioneer RESA 3 Hours Substitute Teacher Training Course or possession of a valid or expired Georgia Teaching Certificate (or letter of eligibility of same), or documentation of completion of Substitute Teacher Training with surrounding school systems.

Description:
- Maintain positive and orderly classroom and provide instruction to students according to the plans left by the regular employee.
- Supervise students outside the classroom (hallways, cafeteria, etc.).
- Use appropriate behavior management strategies.
- Act in a professional and ethical manner
- Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents.
- Adhere to all Hall County School District Board of Education policies and all state and federal laws, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift or carry up to 25 pounds
- Ability to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds
- Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching
- Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist • Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees • Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine
- Sitting: Particularly for sustained periods of time
- Standing: Particularly for sustained periods of time
- Hearing: Ability to receive detailed information and instruction
- Vision: Abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
