Job Description
Lake Forest Community High School's Little Scouts Program is seeking a Substitute Teacher for Little Scouts.
Description: All our Little Scouts Teachers provide a warm, nurturing, safe, and loving environment where positive self-concepts are enhanced, independence encouraged, and individuality respected. A Substitute could fill in for any Little Scouts school staff member. Our substitutes at must be an energetic, creative, patient and loving. The Substitute will help in all areas of the classroom and school setting: helping students learn age-appropriate skills, participating actively in play, supervising while napping, preparing and serving lunch. They must be available to work on an as needed basis for any number of hours between 6:45 am and 5:15 pm.

Essential Functions:
- Protects the safety of all children in the center
- Ensures children are supervised at all times
- Uses positive phrasing with the children
- Communicates frequently with children throughout the day
- Interacts with children during play activities both indoors and on the playground
- Treats each child with dignity and respect
- Responds to the individual needs and learning styles of all children
- Responds to children in distress promptly and appropriately
- Monitors children closely during meals
Health and Safety:
- Immediately reports any needed building/safety repairs to the Director
- Responsible for the welfare, health and safety of children
- Responds appropriately and effectively to emergencies and pro-active drills
- Cleans and disinfects mouthed toys before next use, chairs and toys at least once a week or when soiled, and mats and cots weekly
- Monitors sleeping infants, toddlers, and preschoolers during nap time
Relationship with Parents:
- Greets and interacts with parents at drop off and pick up with a warm smile and positive comments about their child
Supporting Staff Relationships:
- Attends all scheduled staff meetings Works respectfully and cooperatively with co-workers
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned by direct supervisor
Qualifications and Requirements:
Education, Experience, and Licensure:
- 19 years of age or older
- DCFS Teacher Qualified, Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or 60 semester hours in Early Childhood Education preferred.
- Current Infant/Child CPR Certification
- Current SIDS Certification
- Current Shaken Baby Syndrome Certification
