PAY SCALE: $19.00- $21.00/ hour, Based on Experience
CIVIL SERVICE TITLE(S): Job Training Specialist (Competitive)
JOB DESCRIPTION: The job coach works with students either individually or in groups at community work sites and attends to the special needs of children.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Assist students with problems related to their work placement and seek help from Work-Based Learning Coordinator and Special Education Supervisor, as needed.
- Make observations and evaluations of student work habits and performances.
- Assist with writing student schedules and task analyzing jobs.
- Complete a variety of recording forms (attendance forms, weekly progress logs, Task Analyses Rating Forms, etc.)
- Assist students with completing Work-Based Learning forms and keeping student notebooks organized.
- Work with students individually or in small groups and offer specific instructions on completing assigned job tasks.
- Check student work assignments to ensure job tasks are correctly completed.
- Communicate with classroom teacher and supervisor on student progress.
- Assist with record keeping, filing, etc.
- Under supervision, assist with instructional aids and equipment.
- Attend to physical needs of the children.
- Perform such other related additional services as may be assigned by Administration.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must possess or meet Civil Service requirements for title of Job Training Specialist. High School diploma and two years full-time, or equivalent, paid work experience working with individuals with special needs performing either vocational or employment counseling, or training, or as an instructor or instructor's assistant; all of which must be in an educational facility, institution, or agency,
OR
Graduation from a regionally accredited NYS registered college or university with an Associates or Bachelors degree with a major in Human Services, Education, or one of the social sciences.
