Job Description
Position Description: Substitute Teachers 2025-2026
Location: Districtwide
Salary and terms of Employment:
Anticipated Start Date: August 27, 2025
As Needed
Montville Public Schools is seeking substitute Teachers in all subject areas and grade levels
Salary - $125 per day, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
(High School diploma or Associates – Sub Waiver is required)
Reports to Building Principal at assigned building
Description:
The substitute teacher assumes responsibility for a class and performs all the tasks of the absent teacher,
such as keeping students in order, conducting quizzes, and sharing homework assignments. Success in
this role will be demonstrated by providing students with guidance, maintaining the safety and well-being
of students, assisting with instruction, and maintaining a positive classroom climate in the absence of the
full-time teacher.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher is desirable
- Previous experience working with children is desirable

- Patience, compassion, consistency, and adaptability to meet students’ behavioral needs.
