Primary Purpose
Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in Algebra that enable them to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society, including critical thinking, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning aligned to state standards.
Qualifications
Education/Certification:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with Mathematics certification (Grades 7�12 or appropriate level)
Experience:
- Student teaching or approved internship
- Experience teaching secondary mathematics preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Instructional Strategies
- Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the Texas Education Agency TEKS for Algebra
- Deliver engaging, differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Use data-driven instruction to adjust teaching strategies and improve student outcomes
- Incorporate technology and real-world applications into lessons
Classroom Management
- Establish and maintain a positive, structured classroom environment
- Manage student behavior in accordance with district and campus expectations
- Promote a safe and respectful learning environment
Assessment & Data
- Design and administer formative and summative assessments
- Analyze student performance data to guide instruction
- Prepare students for state assessments such as STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) exams
Student Support
- Provide tutoring, intervention, and enrichment opportunities
- Monitor student progress and communicate with parents/guardians regularly
- Participate in ARD, 504, and RTI meetings as required
Professional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with colleagues in PLCs (Professional Learning Communities)
- Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development
- Maintain accurate records including grades, attendance, and lesson plans
- Comply with all district, campus, and state policies
Working Conditions
- Classroom environment with regular standing, walking, and use of technology
- May include after-school tutorials, meetings, and school events
Performance Expectations
- Demonstrate growth in student academic achievement
- Maintain effective classroom management
- Exhibit professionalism, collaboration, and adherence to district standards
Additional Duties
- Perform other duties as assigned by the campus administration
*Salary is commensurate with experience
*Minimum Salary $66,000 for fully certified teachers
*Works 187 Days
*Please note that this role requires in-person attendance and is not eligible for remote work.
