Job Description


This position reports directly to the building Principal/Assistant Principal. This position is contracted through Edustaff. 
 

Position: Campus Safety Monitor
Schedule: Student Attendance Days, 7:00 AM-4:00 PM
Compensation: $24.93/hr or commensurate with experience
Lamphere High School is hiring a Campus Safety Monitor to support the safety and security of students, staff and visitors.


Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in law enforcement, security-related work, or education preferred.
  • Basic computer literacy and operational knowledge of equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to complete routine paperwork.
  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Skill in performing building security and lock procedures.
  • Knowledge of public security codes, policies, and regulations.
  • Ability to understand, follow, and enforce safety codes, regulations, and procedures.
  • Ability to maintain good attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to walk/stand over 90% of the work day, and move about the building and grounds as required to complete responsibilities.
  • Willingness to be trained in CPR, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention techniques, and necessary medical procedures.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide security at the main entrance during peak entry times.
  • Welcome, engage, and check in visitors following visitor protocol.
  • Patrol hallways and other areas of the school building, parking lots, and campus.
  • Monitor interior and exterior security cameras.
  • Regularly check perimeters to maintain building security.
  • Report violations of standards of behavior to appropriate administrators.
  • Assist with lunch practices, including supervision of students in the cafeteria or those participating in optional activities.
  • Assist with safety drills (fire, lockdown, severe weather, etc.), assemblies, community events, etc.
  • Intervene in student conflicts and take appropriate action, including the use of conflict resolution and de-escalation skills.
  • Interact with students in a positive, friendly, and firm (but professional) manner.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other personnel, as needed, to resolve student issues as they arise.
  • Support all district safety and security protocols and policies by being an active participant in the school safety team.
  • Collaborate with local fire and law enforcement agencies.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications and responsibilities as administration may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

This position is classified as Nonexempt 
Employment is contingent upon disclosure in accordance with PA-189.
Ability to withstand the strains and successfully manage the responsibilities of the position.
Must demonstrate reliability and punctuality, with a strong record of consistent attendance. Regular and dependable presence during school hours is essential.
