Overview
STEM Adventures is a 4-day summer camp held at Meadow Lane Elementary that will occur June 15-18, 2026 for 240 rising 3rd through 6th grade Wayne County Public School students. Students will be immersed in hands-on activities, engage with industry presenters, and attend a Family & Community STEM showcase. Staff are responsible for working Monday-Thursday from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, with extended hours on Thursday. Camp begins each day for students at 8:30 am and ends at 3:00 pm. The theme of this year's camp is "Worlds Apart: Engineering Remote Sensing Devices."
Responsibilities & Requirements:
- Instructional assistants will assist teachers in the preparation and execution of lessons, providing support to students, and ensuring a safe and conducive learning environment. Instructional assistants will actively engage with students by offering support and guidance as students complete activities. Additionally, instructional assistants will assist in managing camp materials and equipment as well as working alongside camp directors to ensure camp is a success for all participants.
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
- Completion of at least 16 credits toward a high school diploma
- Pass all background checks, including a drug test, per WCPS policies
- STEM or education related interest and experiences (preferred)
- Interest in pursuing or currently enrolled in a STEM or Education degree (preferred)
- Bilingual - Spanish/English (preferred)
