Job Description

Job Number Title: Information Technology Analyst 

Pay Schedule: ATSP, Lane 1

FLSA Status: Exempt

Reports to: Supervisor of Information Technology

 

JOB SUMMARY

The Information Technology Analyst is responsible for the installation and technical support of laptops, desktops, printers, projectors, interactive displays, other peripherals, associated operating systems, and applications. Additional responsibilities include supporting, implementing, testing, operating, securing, and maintaining components of local and wide area networks as well as hardware support for CCPS.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain, and manage all school system computers and associated technology equipment.
  • Assist school system staff in reconciling the technology inventory. 

  • Assist in the planning, coordination, and management of the technology repair activities for the school system.

  • Assist in the resolution of supplier, school, and department questions relative to computer repair or upgrades.

  • Assist in managing the communication to ensure correct procurement policies and procedures are adhered to. 

  • Provide on-site technical support to users and provide equipment recommendations to the Supervisor.

  • Install operating system software as well as commercial application software packages. 

  • Consult directly with employees and administrators regarding daily and special computer needs. Define problems and alternative solutions to support user's needs.

  • Direct internal staff to available training resources on systems and technologies. 

  • Participate in developing solutions to technical needs identified in the field and specialized curriculum areas. 

  • Maintain current knowledge related to the computer and technology industry through training and reading technical publications.

  • Function as a "Tier 2" escalation point for the Helpdesk.

  • Regularly travel from location to location throughout the workday, this requires reliable and on demand transportation.

  • Perform other duties as assigned associated with effective operation of the Technology Services Department.

     

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Associate's Degree in a computer-related field. A Bachelor's Degree in a computer-related field is preferred.

  • Two (2) years' work experience directly related to client/server technologies, LANs and/or WANs, including significant hands-on personal computer hardware/software support installation and maintenance. Must demonstrate an understanding of networking concepts and applications.

  • Combination of equivalent education and experience considered.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Higher level or a combination of basic certifications from industry leaders. Examples include: Microsoft, Juniper, Cisco, CompTIA, or other approved equivalents are preferred.

  • Outstanding human relations and customer service skills.

  • Outstanding references relating to professional and technical competence.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Sedentary Work: Exerting minimal but not constant physical effort to perform sedentary work, typically involving some combination of feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, mental acuity, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, talking, visual acuity, walking and may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (5 to 10 pounds), visual perception and discrimination, the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds, perceive and discriminate color, perceive odors, and require oral communications.
