Job Title: Paraprofessional, Vocational (CTE)
Pay Program: Support Staff, Non-Exempt
Pay Range: Range 6 $17.57 - $19.97
Work Year: Student Contact Days (176 Days / 6.5 Hours)
Reports to: Building Leader
Direct Reports: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Summary
Operating under the direction of the Building Leader, this position supports teachers and students in Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs by assisting with classroom instruction, supervising hands-on training, and reinforcing workplace readiness skills. This role helps maintain a safe and productive learning environment, supports student growth in academic and social-emotional skills, and promotes connections between school, industry partners, and the community. Specialized program duties may vary by assignment (e.g., Companion Animals, Horticulture, Early Childhood Education/Teacher Cadet, Compact Engine Repair, Construction, Culinary, and Criminal Justice).

Education and Experience
Acceptable demonstration of acceptable education and/or experience will be at the sole discretion of the District
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate's degree, completion of at least 48 semester hours of college coursework, or a passing score on the WorkKeys assessment (or other approved assessment) required for Title I schools
- Experience working with students in an educational or training environment preferred
- Background in vocational, technical, or career-related field (construction, manufacturing, IT, or other trade) preferred
Licenses, Registrations or Certifications
- Criminal background check required for hire
- Valid Colorado driver's license or valid Colorado identification required
- Obtain and maintain the District's Small Vehicle Permit within 60 days of hire
- Must be able to lift 35 pounds. Lift test required at time of hire
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of vocational program content (agriculture, childcare, trades, animal care, repair, or other specialized fields)
- Ability to coach and supervise students in safe, appropriate use of vocational tools, machinery, and technology
- Strong supervision and classroom management skills across diverse instructional settings
- Ability to be adaptable and flexible with collaborative critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to model and reinforce positive behaviors aligned with District Social Emotional Learning practices
- Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to provide support in a professional and approachable manner

- Ability to follow applicable federal, state, local laws and Board of Education policies, in addition to building and department procedures
- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
- Well-developed knowledge of and interest in literature, language, linguistic units, and literacy
- Well-developed interpersonal relationship building skills, especially as it relates to students and the school environment
- Strong ability to use de-escalation techniques and to defuse stressful and possibly volatile situations
- Ability to work independently as needed with minimal direction and/or supervision
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and frequent interruptions in a timely manner
- Ability to be adaptable and flexible with critical thinking and problem-solving capabilities
- Basic operating knowledge of computers, district-approved devices, and common educational technology tools.
- Ability to use email, word processing, spreadsheets, and other standard office software.
- Ability to operate typical office equipment such as copiers, printers, and telephones.
