Job Description
The job of Paraprofessional Signing Aide is done for the purpose/s of supporting students who use sign as a receptive/expressive tool to access the instructional program within an assigned classroom. Specific responsibilities may include assisting in the supervision, care and instruction of students, some of whom may have identified special education needs, in the general education classroom or in a self-contained special education classroom; assisting in implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior during non-classroom time; providing information to appropriate school personnel; and attending IEP meetings.
Signing Aide positions, Requires Paraprofessional license for Paraprofessionals, Sign Language proficiency test for Signing Aides
Role Responsibilities: Support students in assigned classrooms with their communication, behavior, self-care, sensory, and learning needs. Provide supervision and direct support. Collaborate and coordinate with staff.
Stipend: $1,650 (includes $200 for orientation)
An additional stipend shall be provided to paraprofessionals who participate in Extended School Year or Board approved Summer School Programs with the following length of service in the District:
- 5 years or less $500
- 6 -10 years $750
- 11+ years $1000
