Job Summary:
Enable students to derive the fullest possible educational experience by identifying learning needs through comprehensive educational assessment and data analysis. Improve educational outcomes for students with suspected disabilities through diagnostic evaluation, interpretation of assessment results, consultation, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams. Ensure compliance with state and federal special education regulations and psychometric testing standards. Provide instructional support and, when applicable under CDE Adjunct Instructor authorization, deliver specialized academic or social emotional instruction aligned with identified student needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive educational evaluations using technically sound assessment instruments to determine academic achievement, cognitive functioning (when appropriately qualified), processing abilities, and educational needs in accordance with IDEA and state guidelines.
  • Administer, score, and interpret assessment data for parents, teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders; provide research-based recommendations to support instructional planning and intervention.
  • Prepare comprehensive written evaluation reports that determine eligibility, educational impact, and recommendations for specially designed instruction and related services. Facilitate and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, including eligibility determination, IEP development, manifestation determinations, and re-evaluations.
  • Ensure compliance with procedural safeguards, due process requirements, Child Find mandates, and district/state reporting procedures.
  • Consult and collaborate with general and special education teachers regarding instructional strategies, accommodations, progress monitoring, and intervention design and with school psychologists, speech-language pathologists, and other related service providers to ensure appropriate application of evaluation data and programming decisions.
  • Review and analyze student performance data to support MTSS/RTI frameworks and early intervening services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor/administrator.

 

Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Educational Diagnostics, Psychometry, School Psychology, Counseling, Special Education or related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Completion of graduate-level coursework in: (1) Educational assessment and psychometric measurement; (2) Statistics; (3) Individual and group test administration and interpretation; (4) Learning theory; (5) Exceptional child education; and (6) Personality.
  • Appropriate licensure for administration of standardized personnel selection, achievement, general aptitude, or proficiency tests required.
  • Must meet qualifications for Colorado Department of Education Adjunct Instructor authorization (requires DORA license as an Educational Diagnostician).
  • Experience conducting psychoeducational or academic evaluations in a school setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of IDEA, Section 504, MTSS, and special education compliance requirements.
  • Knowledge of psychometric principles, test validity, reliability, and interpretation.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to analyze and synthesize multiple data sources.
  • Skill in collaborative consultation and conflict resolution.
  • Proficiency with assessment tools, data systems, and educational software.
  • Ability to manage confidentiality in all aspects of job.
  • Ability to promote and follow Board of Education, Superintendent, school and department policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate, interact, and work effectively and cooperatively with people from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds.
  • Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
  • Valid Colorado driver's license required.
  • Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.

 

Travel Requirements:
Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
