School Secretary II (12 months) - Support (full-time)
The Kirkwood School District is hiring a School Secretary II (12 months) to support students, staff, and families at Tillman Elementary School.
The successful candidate will:
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Be capable of handling highly confidential information with skill and discretion.
- Maintain a calm, professional demeanor in communication with District staff, students, parents and community.
- Possess excellent organizational skills and have the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Be skilled in word processing and basic technology, including but not limited to Google Workspace.
Examples of work performed:
- Prepares departmental budgets and reconciles monthly financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with organizational policies.
- Oversees and maintains the system for support staff clock-in/out, ensuring accurate records and finalizing time sheets for payroll processing.
- Coordinates daily classroom coverage for teacher absences, using available internal staff or substitutes.
- Communicates effectively with substitute teachers, staff, and administrators to ensure accurate scheduling.
- Prepares, composes, transcribes and/or types documents, correspondence, reports, newsletters, schedules, etc. for the purpose of communicating information to school and District personnel, students, parents, and the public.
- Maintains files for supervisor(s)
- Supports assigned supervisor(s) for the purposes of providing assistance with building functions.
- Determines the need of written or telephone inquiries, provides information or direction and resolves issues from knowledge of Kirkwood School District's policies and procedures, or refers to the appropriate party.
- Receives visitors into office, ascertains the purpose of the visit, and furnishes the information or directs to the proper person.
- Initiates contact and transacts business with outside agencies and parties.
- Develops systems to meet building needs and establishes and maintains files including educational records.
- Provides supervision for students during lunch and recess as needed.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested by the principal and assistant principal.
Requirements:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent required
- Prior administrative work in schools (preferred)

Pay starts at $21.59 per hour, dependent on relevant experience.
