Description of Work

You must apply by 11:59 PM prior to the posted closing date.Position will serve as a technical advisor for the County Maintenance Engineer in planning, organizing, scheduling, and completing all maintenance, force account, and purchase order contract construction operations within Randolph County. This position is expected to promote a safe work environment; effectively communicate and maintain working relationships with the general public and local government officials; supervise and evaluate the performance of subordinate employees; and assist in the supervision and monitoring of maintenance programs to ensure efficient use of personnel, equipment, and materials. Employee hired into this position should be able to read and interpret construction plans and prepare/review reports. Position is subject to emergency callback including snow and ice removal and may be required to work at any time, including nights, weekends, and holidays. The position requires the ability to work safely in outdoor environments with exposure to extreme temperatures and construction site hazards such as traffic, heights, and uneven terrain. Moderate physical activity including walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing is required and must be able to lift 50lbs. Work may include other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Must be able to legally operate a state vehicle. Safety toe footwear required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences
Salary Grade and Salary Range: NC14 $52,952 - $92,036
Management prefers applicants with the following:
Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision
Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems
Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments
Computer experience including office software and drafting software
Customer service experience related to resolving problems that involve explaining complicated engineering concepts to various customer groups
Minimum Education and Experience

Associate's degree in an applicable area of Engineering Technology or Survey Technology from an appropriately accredited institution and seven years of progressive technician experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
