
Bilingual Certified Instructor
Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Connecticut State Teaching Certification in the Bilingual Education
2. Bilingual Teaching Experience (K-6)
3. Knowledge of the theories and effective practices of the teaching of bilingual education 4. Knowledge of literacy development and language acquisition as it affects students enrolled in bilingual education or stand-alone ESL programs. 5. Ability to deliver content area instruction using comprehensible instruction (sheltered language) techniques.
6. Knowledgeable about computers and their application to second language instruction. 7. Knowledgeable about cooperative learning and its application to second language instruction. 8. Knowledgeable about multicultural education and student diversity issues.
JOB GOAL: To provide instruction in both languages: English and Spanish.
REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Bilingual and ESL Programs and Principal
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: RESPONSIBILITIES:
By contractual agreement between the New Haven Board of Education and the New Haven Teacher's Bargaining Unit.
Provide appropriate instruction to bilingual(Spanish) as per the job description for all New Haven Public School teachers.
COMPENSATION: Certified teachers $35.00/hour
Non-certified instructors $17.50/hour
