Job Description
JOB TITLE: Residency Student Teacher
DUTY DAYS: 187 Days
PRIMARY PURPOSE:
In collaboration with the university, provide Resident Student Teachers with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their teacher certification requirements. Enable Resident student teachers to develop competencies and skills to successfully achieve teacher certification in the State of Texas.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Mental Demands:
Ability to communicate effectively (verbal); maintain emotional control under stress;
interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions
Physical Demands / Environmental Factors:
Frequent prolonged and irregular hours; Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of
computer; steady phone interactions; moderate standing, walking, and bending

Education:
- Meet University of Houston and Pasadena ISD requirements for Resident Student Teacher Placement
Special Knowledge / Skills:
- Ability to work well with school-aged children
- Ability to communicate and work well with campus personnel
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Uphold and enforce school rules, administrative regulations, and state and local board policy
- Assist the mentor teacher(s) in preparing instructional materials
- Work with individual students or small groups to complete instructional exercises by the teacher(s)
- Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments
- Assist in supervising students throughout the school day, both inside and outside the classroom
- Keep the mentor teacher(s) informed of any special needs or problems of individuals students
- Assist in maintaining a neat and orderly classroom
- Assist in inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment
- Assist the mentor teacher(s) in keeping administrative records and preparing required reports
- Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events, as needed
- Perform other duties as may be assigned
