Job Description
Position: Summer School Kinder Camp Assistants, K-5 Lakeshore Elementary School
Posting Dates: March 27, 2026
Reports To: Summer School Coordinator
Beginning: June 15 - July 31, 2026
8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Monday-Friday
25 hours/week
Qualifications:
- CDA (Child Development Associate) credentials, or the willingness to obtain the CDA preferred
- Obtain and maintain current certifications in CPR and First Aid
- Experience working with children and teaching them developmentally appropriate skills.
- Demonstrate good attendance, punctuality and excellent communication/organizational skills.
- Demonstrates friendliness, dependability and trustworthiness towards others.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist lead teachers in planning and implementing developmentally appropriate curriculum to create an engaging learning environment.
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment that fosters social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
- Observe and document children's progress, sharing insights with lead teachers to tailor educational approaches.
- Communicate effectively with families, providing updates on children's development and participating in home visits, parent-teacher conferences, and student-data meetings.
- Adhere to state licensing regulations and program policies, maintaining a safe and healthy classroom environment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
- Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
- Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
- Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken work; those activities where detailed or import spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
- Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
- The worker is subject to environmental conditions.
- The worker should provide consistent and reliable in-person attendance.
