Job Description

Job Title: Substitute Teacher
Location: Dearborn MI 
Pay Rate: $160 full day / $80 half day
Employment Type: On-Call / As NeededOur Academy's mission is to serve a multicultural community through individualized, focused instruction allowing each student to achieve academic excellence and exhibit social responsibility.

We are a Michigan public charter school dedicated to providing a supportive, innovative, and student-centered learning environment. We are seeking reliable and enthusiastic Substitute Teachers to join our team and help ensure continuity of instruction when classroom teachers are absent.

Responsibilities

  • Provide instruction and classroom management in the absence of the regular teacher.

  • Follow lesson plans and maintain a positive, respectful classroom environment.

  • Ensure student safety and uphold school policies and procedures.

  • Report attendance and any issues to school administration.

Requirements (per Michigan Department of Education guidelines):

  • Minimum of 60 semester credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university.

  • GPA of 2.0 or higher.

  • Must hold or be eligible to apply for a Michigan Substitute Permit (daily substitute permit issued by MDE).

  • Successful completion of a background check and fingerprinting (per state law).

  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.

  • Flexibility, dependability, and a positive attitude.

Other Preferred Qualifications:

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate (Standard or Professional).

  • Prior teaching or classroom experience.

  • Completion of the ETS Parapro Assessment or WorkKeys test (if applying as a substitute paraprofessional).

  • Ability to effectively interact with professionals, parents, and students
  • Position is immediate and requires the above qualification
