Special Education Paraprofessional (One on One)

The Dearborn Academy, a K-8 Charter School located at 1930 Ford Rd. Dearborn, MI 48128, is seeking a Special Education Para Educator and one on one Para Educators. The Dearborn Academy's mission is to serve a multicultural community through individualized, focused instruction allowing each student to achieve academic excellence and exhibit social responsibility.
 
Provide instructional support to students and assist teacher in the educational process of all students in both instructional and non-instructional activities.
Special Education Para Educators: Ability to assist the special education teacher in working directly with children (if required) in small groups or on a one-to-one basis.
 
Position Specific Responsibilities 
 

1. Perform duties under the direct supervision of the assigned general education teachers.
2. Assist students with activities as directed by the teacher(s).
3. Assist individual students in the classroom, as well as tutor students individually.
4. Assist and support the student's instructional processes as planned by the supervising teacher(s) and gather and record data.
5. Other related duties as assigned by the Principal.
   Qualifications
    
   Completion of one of the following:

• At least two years of study at an institute of higher education, or
• An associate or higher degree; or
• Meet No Child Left Behind requirement: Pass Work Keys Test

 
Communication Skills 
 
 Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, students, staff and the general public consistent with the duties of this position.
