Job Description

Under general direction, this position will oversee the development and implementation of departmental programs that support the public health talent pipeline and operational readiness. This includes managing a grant research initiative to identify external funding aligned with strategic goals, developing and leading a cross-functional grant support team and coordinating efforts to assess department-wide needs and outcomes. The position is also responsible for the continued development and improvement of public health apprenticeship and student programs, ensuring alignment with service delivery objectives. Additionally, the Program Manager will coordinate accreditation and compliance activities by facilitating internal reporting processes and supporting continuous quality improvement efforts across the department.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Demonstrated expertise in program management, preferably in public health or workforce development contexts.
• Strong organizational and communication skills with experience in presentations and group facilitation; ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse individuals and institutions.
• Strong, well-rounded, public health programming services knowledge and understanding of the 10 essential functions of public health.
• Knowledge of public sector grant programs and sources and grant writing requirements.
• Experience with engagement programming, academic placement programs.
• Proficiency in data tracking systems (e.g., Excel, Smartsheet, student information databases), social media, project management applications, and design software.)

Promotes, establishes, or expands health care services or educational programming throughout the community;

 

Collects and analyzes data relevant to health care services or educational programs;

 

Responds to health related questions and serves as a department representative on boards and committees in the community;

 

Evaluates program, ensures compliance to standards and requirements, and recommends changes to services, materials, or operations;

 

Provides technical assistance, provides resources to, or conducts educational programs for civic groups, health organizations, employee groups, and others;

 

Develops and implements procedures for a health care service or educational program;

 

Prepares reports detailing activities, facilities, and funding for a health program;

 

Responds to and provides leadership for public health emergencies and significant events;

 

May have limited supervisory responsibility;

 

May participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives.

Possession of a bachelor’s degree and one (1) year of experience in public health conducting or coordinating services, programs, or educational activities. Substitution(s): Possession of a master’s degree in public health or public administration may substitute for the required experience.

 

Some positions allocated to this classification may require State of Ohio certification or licensure due to the nature of or the funding requirements for the program.

 

Some positions may require a valid driver’s license.
