Location: Houston, Texas
Reports to: Dispatch Manager
Compensation Range: $22 – $25 hourly (depending on location, experience, skills, and qualifications)

What We Are Looking For

The CDL A Driver plays a critical role in ensuring timely, safe, and professional delivery of TGU products throughout the Houston metropolitan area. This role is essential to daily operations and directly supports customer satisfaction, production flow, and yard efficiency. The CDL Driver does not manage people but collaborates closely with dispatch, shop personnel, and supervisors. Success in the first 12 months includes demonstrating safe driving practices, maintaining a clean MVR, consistently meeting delivery schedules, navigating tight residential and commercial locations, and upholding TGU’s high standards of professionalism and customer interaction.

What You Will Do

  • Deliver soils, mulch, compost, and other TGU products in a safe, efficient, and conscientious manner.
  • Properly operate the assigned truck to transport TGU products ensuring it is loaded and secured.
  • Notify management of any mechanical problems that occur during the delivery process.
  • Follow Company and DOT operating procedures.
  • Inspect vehicle’s serviceability and cleanliness daily.
  • Wear protective equipment and uniform as required.
  • Demonstrate proper use of truck and good driving habits.
  • Maintain a professional and neat appearance at all times.
  • Adhere to assigned routes and schedules.
  • Submit completed paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Maintain good attendance, punctuality, and reliability.
  • Maintain communication with dispatch, shop, and supervisor.
  • Display willingness to make decisions and solve problems.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Work well in a team and offer assistance to co-workers.
  • Use unassigned time effectively.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Three (3) years commercial driving experience with face‑to‑face customer interaction.
  • Valid State‑issued CDL Class A or B driver’s license and a clean MVR.
  • At least 21 years of age or older.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Able to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • End dump experience.
  • Knowledgeable of, and accustomed to following, FMCSA regulations and properly maintaining and servicing their vehicle.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven competency in driving.
  • Consistently at work and on time; willing to work weather permitting.
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Meets productivity standards.
  • Observes safety and security procedures; uses equipment and materials properly.

What to Expect

This role involves daily driving throughout the Houston metropolitan area, including navigating tight residential developments, commercial loading docks, and busy traffic corridors. CDL Drivers can expect a fast‑paced environment with frequent customer interaction and a strong emphasis on safety, punctuality, and professionalism. The work is outdoors and subject to weather conditions, requiring the use of PPE and adherence to DOT and company safety standards. Drivers will collaborate with dispatch, shop personnel, and supervisors to ensure efficient routing, timely deliveries, and proper vehicle maintenance. The schedule may vary based on operational needs, and productivity, reliability, and communication are key to success in this role.
