Applications are invited to fill a temporary researcher position to assist in the research of liquid crystal elastomers, assist in preparation of proposals and revise manuscripts related to completed research projects. This project is led by Ryan Hayward in the Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering.

  • Conduct laboratory research related to formulation of liquid crystal elastomers and polymerized ionic liquids and characterize their material properties.
  • Train and assist other laboratory members on use of equipment.
  • Assist in preparation of proposals via reviewing literature, collecting preliminary data, drafting background and proposal aims sections.
  • Revise manuscripts related to completed research projects for publication.

The hire rate for this part-time position is $21.00 per hour.

Temporary positions at the University of Colorado are not benefits-eligible, however, all positions are eligible for paid sick leave.

  • PhD in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Experimental laboratory experience in preparation and mechanical characterization of liquid crystalline and elastomeric materials.
