Job Summary
The Associate Counsel promotes and protects the interests, mission, and vision of Rady Children's Health by providing sound and confidential legal counsel to the organization and its leaders primarily on contracting matters. This position focuses on contract preparation, drafting, review and negotiation through the organization’s contract management system. Other areas of responsibility include legal research, legal analysis, oversight of outside counsel, advising on patient care and risk management issues and assisting on special projects. This position reports to the Associate General Counsel of Rady Children's Health Law Department.Pay Range
Minimum $133,827 Midpoint $177,320 Maximum $220,792Rate of pay is determined by various factors, including but not limited to knowledge, skills, competencies, experience, education, as well as position requirements.
Experience
• Required: Minimum three (3) years of related experience in a law firm or in-house setting as an attorney. Proven ability to effectively prepare, draft, review, and negotiate contracts with minimal supervision.
• Preferred: Five (5) plus years of related experience in a law firm or in-house setting as an attorney. Previous experience in health care and/or privacy, security, and technology advising.
Education
• Required: Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
Training
• Required: None required..
Specialized Skills
• Required: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and strategic thinking skills to understand and anticipate the impact and opportunities across multiple critical projects. Ability to build and establish positive relationships with stakeholders and staff at all levels. Experience managing multiple projects while maintaining exceptional customer service standards. Ability to present findings / recommendations to Executive level audiences. Ability to apply judgment and confidentiality in the handling of sensitive information. Ability to review, revise, and draft legal documents and conduct legal research. Knowledge of health care law and corporate compliance. Strong oral and written communication skills. Intermediate or advanced computer, spreadsheet, & database skills.
Licensure
• Required: Admission to the California Bar to practice law; or the ability to be admitted to the California Bar within one year by taking the bar exam; or the ability to be authorized to practice law in California via the California State Bar Multijurisdictional Practice Program.
