Job Description:
Your Impact in This Role
As a Commercial Route Driver, you will be responsible for performing regular and dedicated routes to collect glass recycling containers from commercial customers. You will also play a vital role in supporting operational improvements, ensuring customer satisfaction, and maintaining Ripple Glass’s reputation for reliability and environmental stewardship.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate a commercial truck (Ford 450 with gooseneck trailer) safely, adhering to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and regulations.
- Utilize hydraulic-tipping mechanisms to safely load and unload glass recycling containers.
- Perform deliveries of recycling containers to new and existing customers and support special event programs through container drop-off and pickup.
- Monitor collected materials for contamination and clean container areas as needed.
- Communicate effectively with Ripple Glass personnel to help improve routing efficiency and scheduling.
- Provide exceptional customer service by acting professionally, courteously, and cooperatively with customers, coworkers, and others on the road.
- Demonstrate honesty, trustworthiness, and pride in your work.
- Manage assigned responsibilities efficiently and safely with strong time management and follow-through.
- Adhere to all company rules, safety policies, and operational standards.
- Support Sibelco Glass Processing Operations as needed, which may include:
- Basic equipment maintenance
- Forklift operation
- Front-end loader operation
- Line housekeeping
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Preferred:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Waste haul or related experience (preferred but not required)
- Clean driving record
- Knowledge of commercial vehicle components and safety equipment
- Ability to follow schedules and adapt to challenges that arise
- Strong commitment to safety with no tolerance for inappropriate risk-taking
- Good customer service and communication skills
