Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA)

Location: 7301 E Baseline Road, Mesa, AZ 85209
Compensation: $42,000 – $52,000 annually (DOE)
Start Date: Summer 2026
Schedule: Full-Time, On-Site

Position Overview

Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of high-performing public charter schools committed to academic excellence, college readiness, and equitable access to high-quality education for students in historically underserved communities.

AMS is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) to join our team at the AMS Power Campus in Mesa.

The SLPA works under the supervision of a licensed Speech Language Pathologist to support students with speech and language needs, helping to implement services aligned with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). This role collaborates with teachers, staff, and families to support student communication development and academic success.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, collaborative, and student-focused professional committed to helping all students reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities

Student Support & Service Delivery

  • Support the implementation of speech and language services in accordance with student IEPs under the supervision of a licensed SLP.

  • Assist with screenings and observations for students with speech and language needs.

  • Implement therapy activities and lesson plans aligned with student goals.

  • Monitor and document student progress and communicate updates to the supervising SLP.

Instructional Support

  • Prepare materials and support instruction aligned with IEP goals in collaboration with classroom teachers and the supervising SLP.

  • Reinforce communication strategies and interventions within the classroom setting.

  • Support students in developing speech, language, and communication skills.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and the supervising SLP to support student success.

  • Serve as a resource to staff and families regarding speech and language support strategies.

  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to student support planning.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of services and student progress.

  • Support compliance with IEP requirements and state/federal guidelines.

  • Assist with preparation of required reports and documentation as directed by the supervising SLP.

Qualifications & Competencies

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field

  • Valid Arizona licensure or certification as a Speech Language Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) through:

    • Arizona Department of Education (ADE), or

    • Arizona Department of Health Services (DHS)

  • Ability to obtain and maintain an Arizona IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working in a school or pediatric setting

  • Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills

Preferred

  • Experience working in a K–8 school setting

  • Experience supporting students in Title I or underserved communities

  • Experience working with IEPs and multidisciplinary teams
