To operate and maintain the broadcast center in all aspects onboard as required.

Responsibility and Authority

Guest Experience

  • Demonstrates genuine concern for guests’ wellbeing at all times;
  • Ensures that all guest requests, inquiries and concerns are handled in a prompt manner;
  • Ensures that the Entertainment Department creates a warm, sincere, welcoming but fun environment around the ships public areas.

Operational and Administrative

  • Maintains accurate inventory of all supplies and equipment in the broadcast center and orders replacements and equipment through HIC onboard when required
  • Content and operation of the ALLIN INTERACTIVE TV system
  • Inputs itinerary into ITV system for each voyage
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory of set top boxes and remote controls for ITV system and ordering replacements proactively
  • Ensuring that ITV system of Procedures and Responsibilities is carried out as per the instruction sheet (please see attached form)
  • Monitoring of all TV channels and sources
  • Monitor the modulators and encoders & adjust audio levels if necessary
  • Programming of Leightronix and auto-patch devices to play and assign required video and audio signals
  • Ensures that Interactive TV system is operating properly and digitizes and ingest content as necessary
  • Communicates with ALLIN for assistance with failing Interactive TV system as required – communicates need for further assistance if ALLIN is unable to remedy problem remotely
  • Ensures that only programming authorized to be onboard is broadcast into the staterooms and is responsible for the security of all digitally copyrighted content
  • Monitors and adjusts the satellite receivers/decoders as necessary due to ships position and programming content required
  • Operates and maintains the video camera and editing software
  • Perform minor technical repairs if capable – if not capable approaches ships electricians for advice and assistance
  • Video tapes and edits all events onboard that require the use of the broadcast camera – this includes video taping the enrichment lectures in the show lounge, the Cruise Directors daily program and destination talks. Also records evening shows if they are requested for archival purposes from the CD or office and the stationary booth camera is not sufficient for this purpose
  • Keep accurate inventory of all digitized movie content and is aware of purge dates and informs shore-side office of this information
  • Proof Read all movie descriptions to ensure that they are correct in both grammar and informative content
  • Offload (delete) movies as requested by shore side management when requested upon arrival of new content
  • Create and maintain a hard drive file of all video content for archival purposes onboard. All content shot onboard is the property of Regent Seven Seas Cruises and is to remain on-board the ship it is shot on
  • Create and maintain a handover file of all repairs, reports and communications that is to be produced for the incoming Broadcast Manager upon his/her joining
  • Produce an “end of voyage” report after each cruise in the approved format and send to both Cruise Director and Manager of Entertainment via email as soon as possible after the voyage
  • Quality of produced video footage that is broadcast on the ship or provided to the guests in the form of DVD gifts
  • To keep the Cruise Director and Manager of Entertainment promptly and fully informed of all relevant matters

To ensure equipment used is in safe working condition by:

  • Familiarizing self with systems, equipment and accessories,
  • Conducting regular maintenance checks of all broadcast equipment and reporting any maintenance issue to supervisor for proper action,
  • Organizing, maintaining and proper storing of video footage and all equipment belonging to broadcast center,
  • Handling equipment with care and not leaving it unattended - and leaving the equipment locked and properly stored,
  • Keeping the Broadcast Center locked at all times that he/she is not in attendance and ensuring only authorized individuals are in room
  • Ensuring equipment is only handled by instructed and properly briefed people,
  • Maintenance of all broadcast equipment and cleanliness and organization of Broadcast Center
  • In depth knowledge of all systems, equipment and accessories used

Training and Development

  • Trains new incoming Broadcast Managers on operations new initiatives or procedures.
  • Completes, participates and promotes RSSC’s Service Training Programs.
  • Assists the Cruise Director in implementing and maintaining guidelines, procedures and practices set by the corporate office.

  • Monitor the practical application of the Company's policy, procedures and instructions.
  • Immediately report to the Master any instances where the vessel is unable or fails to comply with any Company’s policy, procedure, instruction, and any safety, environmental, or security requirement.
  • Participate in crew and passenger safety drills according to instructions from ship’s command;
  • Complies with company safety and pollution prevention regulations.

Education and Experience

Systems

  • MS Office Suite
  • Apple Final Cut Pro expertise

Education and Experience

  • Video Editing and Filming Background
  • Basic Satellite operational knowledge
  • Basic Electronics Skills
