About the Role

As a Maintenance and Facility Coordinator at Essity, you will play a hands-on role supporting the daily operations of the manufacturing floor. This position involves performing preventive maintenance and repairs on machinery, as well as overseeing facility maintenance and coordinating with vendors on both equipment and facility-related projects.

This position is located in Hickory, NC, with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

What You Will Do

  • An Employee with uncompromised commitment to our I Care journey which ensures a safe, healthy and sustainable work environment. 

  • Owns planned and unplanned maintenance interventions and processes. 

  • Vision of 0 stops philosophy, minimize unplanned stops using the Best-Practices (BPs) in an efficient way + suggesting new BPs 

  • Establishes maintenance meetings to plan all maintenance related activities (Planning and Scheduling), incl. safety briefing 

  • Owns the process of breakdown elimination (OPA / OPL work) and develops strategy for Breakdown elimination and cost reduction 

  • Owns the quality standards for maintenance and their efficiency and owns Maintenance KPIs (e.g. budget, Defect trend)

  • Is a role model and accountable for performance & consequence management, coaching and education within their department. 

  • Perform sewing machine maintenance and repairs to ensure optimal functionality for production needs.

  • Execute minor electrical maintenance tasks (e.g., replacing light bulbs, troubleshooting simple electrical issues) in alignment with safety and compliance standards to reduce reliance on external electricians.

  • Oversee general facilities upkeep, including lawn care and basic building maintenance, limited to routine upkeep and preventive measures to reduce vendor reliance.

  • Manage and execute work permits in accordance with safety standards, collaborating with RESH on risk assessments and safe work practices.

  • Provide crossover support for specialized equipment maintenance (e.g., cast saws) as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Who You Are

  • 3+ years of relevant work experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment

  • Leadership experience preferred

  • Basic electrical and general facilities maintenance knowledge strongly preferred

  • Prior experience with sewing machines is a plus

  • Good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite

  • Ability to perform heavy and repetitive lifting, up to 60 pounds

  • High school diploma required; trade school experience preferred

  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

  • Advanced problem-solving skills and strong mechanical aptitude
