Key Responsibilities:
- Train and guide staff in daily tasks to ensure top-notch performance.
- Assign and oversee the work of the Banquet Culinary team.
- Conduct regular meetings to foster communication between Front of House and kitchen staff.
- Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to health and safety standards.
- Monitor food costs and align them with budgetary targets.
- Engage with guests and fellow associates to enhance the dining experience.
- Keep up-to-date with local health department sanitation laws and maintain Serv Safe Food Manager Certification.
What We’re Looking For:
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Knowledge of culinary operations and a detail-oriented mindset.
- Proficiency in basic math and organizational skills.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and lift heavy items regularly.
Physical Demands:
- Most work tasks are performed indoors; temperature is moderate, controlled by hotel environmental systems, but must be able to work in extreme temperatures like freezers (-10°F) and kitchens (+110°F) for up to 4 hours at a time.
- Ability to exert well-paced mobility for up to 10 hours in length in a limited space.
- Ability to position self to fulfill cleaning tasks.
- Frequently lift trays of food or food items weighing up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis and maneuver carts and equipment weighing up to 250 lbs.
A high school or equivalent education is preferred. Culinary classes preferred. Minimum of 2 years of culinary experience required.
Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel. In addition, attendance at all scheduled training sessions and meetings are required.
Upon employment, all associates are required to fully comply with Crowne Plaza Lansing rules and regulations for the safe and effective operations of the Hotel’s facilities. Associates who violate Hotel rules and regulations will be subjects to disciplinary action, up to and including, separation.
