Job Description
Teacher Development Lead - High School - Humanities (Title Funded)

Education/Certification:

• Bachelor's degree in related field.
• Valid Texas Teacher Certificate or Teaching Certificate from out of state appropriate for position.
• Certification must meet requirements for becoming and remaining qualified for this position in a manner required by Federal and/or State law.

Special Knowledge/Skills: 

• Knowledge and experience in instructional coaching.
• Strong content knowledge in Reading Language Arts, English Language Arts, and/or Social Studies.
• Knowledge of best practices for instruction for diverse learners.
• Ability to effectively engage adult learners in professional learning.
• Understanding of the needs of various groups of students such as Emergent Bilingual, Gifted/Talented, 504, Special Education, and students at risk.
• Establish and maintain productive, collaborative relationships with others.
• Comprehensive knowledge of instructional strategies, the role of PLCs, intervention and enrichment, and student assessment.
• Knowledge and comfort with the use of technology in the classroom.

Experience: 

• Minimum of three (3) years of classroom teaching experience.
• Minimum of two (2) years instructional leadership experience required.

Duties:

• Collect and analyze data in order to lead data meetings and to inform instructional decisions.
• Foster collegiality and team building among appropriate personnel, encouraging active involvement in decision-making.
• Develop and revise curriculum documents as needed.
• Actively participate in professional development in areas related to job responsibilities.
• Model district standards of ethics, core values, confidentiality and professionalism.
• Provide leadership in improving the instructional program in the schools.
• Positively collaborate with school leaders to design and support programs on campuses.
• Plan lessons with teachers.
• Support teachers in documenting student progress.
• Develop and deliver district-wide professional learning.
• Communicate district curriculum, instructional practices, district accomplishments, and goals to all stakeholders.
• Cultivate partnerships with local, state, and national leaders in the field (including business and community representatives, institutions of higher education, etc.) to ensure the continued growth of the department.
• Project a positive image to the community.

• This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public.

Physical Demands: 

• Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
• Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks and other classroom equipment.
