Job Description
Vacancy for the 2026-2027 School Year
Responsibility:
The Coordinator of Transportation is directly responsible to the School Business Administrator, and through him/her to the Superintendent of Schools.
Function:
The Coordinator of Transportation shall coordinate the total transportation program for the Willingboro School District and compile all necessary reports pertaining to transportation.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in school district transportation preferred
- Knowledge of transportation contracts preferred
- Knowledge of procedures for reporting vehicle accidents involving students is preferred
- Working knowledge of district software (Transfinder) used for bus scheduling is preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and overall computer literacy is required.
- Will be required to pass a criminal history background check, physical, and present proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status. (CURRENT EMPLOYEES EXEMPT)
Performance of Duties:
- Assure that the contractor is in compliance with specifications, board policy, and all State and Federal transportation regulations, and report to the Business Administrator all concerns regarding contractor performance.
- Review Contractor billing for accuracy.
- Review transportation requests and forward them to the Contractor.
- Verify all requests for aid-in-lieu-of transportation and prepare appropriate purchase orders.
- Establish routes and adjust routes accordingly, as needs change.
- Establish procedures for assuring compliance with State and Federal transportation laws as well as board policies pertaining to transportation.
- Work with the Pupil Personnel Services Department in the operation of the Special Education transportation program, including adherence to State and Federal law and board policy.
- Make recommendations for the improvement of transportation services.
- Prepare all transportation reports for the Board of Education and the State Department of Education in a thorough and timely manner.
- Maintain accurate records of the total transportation program.
- Establish good public relations with the community in connection with transportation.
- Respond to parent requests and concerns regarding transportation, and serve as liaison between parents and the private contractor.
- Respond to concerns raised by the Contractor regarding student discipline on vehicles, and contact the appropriate school administrator as needed.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the School Business Administrator.
