Manager III (Manager, Independent Dispute Resolution program and Complaint Intake team)

This position performs complex managerial work administering the daily operations and activities of the Independent Dispute Resolution program and Complaint Intake team in the Consumer Protection Division. Work involves establishing goals and objectives; developing guidelines, procedures, and policies; developing schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving established goals; and coordinating and evaluating business functions and Independent Dispute Resolution activities. Works under general supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

This position:

  • Manages day-to-day activities within the Independent Dispute Resolution program area of the Consumer Protection Division and the Complaint Intake team.

  • Establishes goals and objectives; develops and approves schedules, priorities, and standards for achieving goals; prepares management and productivity reports; and manages evaluation activates.

  • Provides input in the development of new policies and procedures, and monitors compliance with existing policies and procedures. Identifies opportunities for change and makes recommendations to improve operations.

  • Plans, assigns, and supervises the work of others; performs and oversees administrative functions, such as hiring and evaluating employees. 

  • Collaborates with management to ensure goals and objectives are consistent with the agency’s strategic plan; reports regularly to the manager regarding activities, accomplishments, performance, strategies, and issues. 

  • Represents the agency at business meetings, conferences, and seminars or on boards, panels, and committees. 

  • Provides technical expertise and guidance to internal and external users; makes presentations to stakeholders and users regarding Independent Dispute Resolution. Represents the agency at meetings. conferences and seminars.

  • Collaborates with management to ensure business continuity goals are met, including those for succession management.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

     

This position requires: 

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in a business, insurance, or a field related to the assignment. Plus, three years of experience in the administration of business or government with two of those years in work experience related to the position to be held. Specific areas that would qualify as experience in the administration of business or government would be experience in demonstrating leadership, managing people and resources, managing projects, planning, coordinating functions, or directing the work of others.

  • Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis; education may not substitute for the experience requirement.

  • Previous work experience with property and casualty insurance.

This position requires demonstrated knowledge of:

  • State laws, rules, procedures, and regulations relevant to job requirements.

  • Principles and practices of public administration, management, and organizational behavior.

  • Management control and internal reporting techniques.

This position requires demonstrated skill in:

  • Developing goals and objectives.

  • Problem solving and critical thinking.

  • Using Microsoft Office software applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.

  • Using personal computers sufficient to enter and extract data from related systems and programs such as Centralized Accounting Payroll and Personnel (CAPPS) and other systems required to perform the job.

This position requires the demonstrated ability to:

  • Develop employees through training, mentoring, and goal setting.

  • Exercise administrative and technical supervision of employees for the accomplishment of group and agency goals.

  • Communicate and work effectively with a wide range of people with varied skills, knowledge, and backgrounds.

  • Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.

  • Analyze and solve work-related problems and work independently on a variety of administrative work and technical assignments.

  • Manage and coordinate multiple tasks and priorities to meet necessary deadlines.

  • Work both independently and as a team player.
