Assistant Landscaper
Location: Beach Plum Farm
Reports to: Grounds Director
Employment Type: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm, March 1st-December 31st
Rate: $25/hr
Position Overview
The Assistant Landscaper supports the care, maintenance, and daily execution of all outdoor environments across the property. Working closely with the Grounds Director and broader farm team, this role helps ensure that landscapes, gardens, and guest-facing spaces remain healthy, productive, and visually aligned with the property’s aesthetic and hospitality goals.
This is a hands-on role rooted in consistency, attention to detail, and a strong connection to the land. The Assistant Landscaper plays a key part in maintaining the natural beauty and seasonal rhythm that define the Beach Plum Farm experience.
Core Areas of Responsibility
Land, Landscape & Grounds Support
- Assist in maintaining all landscaped areas, lawns, perennial beds, pathways, trees, and guest-facing outdoor spaces
- Execute daily maintenance tasks including planting, watering, weeding, mulching, pruning, and general upkeep
- Support irrigation efforts and monitor plant health under direction of the Grounds Director
- Assist with kitchen gardens, production fields, and greenhouse operations as needed
- Help maintain soil health through bed preparation, composting, and general upkeep
Property Readiness & Guest Experience
- Maintain outdoor spaces to ensure a welcoming and well-cared-for guest environment
- Support setup and breakdown for events, dinners, and farm programming as needed
- Identify and address maintenance needs before they impact guest experience
Equipment & Operational Support
- Operate landscaping equipment including mowers, trimmers, blowers, and hand tools
- Maintain tools and equipment in clean, safe working condition
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- 3-5 years experience in landscaping preferred
- Basic understanding of plant care and seasonal maintenance
- Must read, write, and understand the primary language used in the workplace
- Must be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Most work tasks are performed outdoors. Must be able to work in all outdoor temperatures
- The worker is subject to noise and vibration from equipment use
- The worker is subject to hazards including mechanical equipment, environmental exposure, and physical labor conditions
- Must be able to stand and exert well-paced mobility for extended periods and move throughout the property efficiently
- Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, and stretch
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds regularly, infrequently lift 50 pounds
- Requires manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment
