
Substance Abuse Counselor
Job Description
The Counselor supports patients in recovery by helping them identify strengths, set social, educational, and career goals, and adjust to a drug free life. This role provides individual and group substance use counseling, develops and updates treatment plans, conducts assessments, and maintains accurate documentation in line with regulatory requirements. Counselors coordinate care, make referrals, provide crisis support, complete follow-up with discharged patients, and participate in team meetings, training, and outreach. They work within their license, follow program policies, and model respect, sound judgment, and a belief that addiction is a treatable condition.
